Boys’ Doubles Lead Efforts versus Catonsville in Tennis

David Shannon and Rhys Wexler defeated the boys’ doubles of Catonsville in straight sets, 2-0 as did the duo of Donyell Logan and Amir Moon.  Norman Moon won in boys’ singles in a 3rd set tiebreaker, battling back after losing the first set.  The Mavericks ultimately lost the match 3-6, but they didn’t go down without a fight.  Next up the Mavericks travel to Dulaney on April 15.

Softball Shuts Out Hereford

The Maverick Softball team completed the season sweep of Hereford Thursday afternoon with a 20-0 victory.  Sophomore Mackenzie Burton (4 IP, 1 H) and Junior Olivia Bangs (1 IP) dominated on the mound, limiting Hereford to 1 hit over 5 innings.  Seniors Abbie Heagy (3-3, 2 HR, 2B, 6 RBI), Bella Schwing (2-4, HR, 3 RBI) and Kendall Pfiefer (HR, 3 RBI) powered the Mavericks at the plate, with Sophomores Sydney Edmond (2-2, HR, 2 R) and Kristin Toland (2-3, 3 RBI) adding to the offensive outburst.  The Mavericks improved to 6-2 on the season and travel to Kenwood on April 15 for their next contest.

Baseball Loses in Extra Innings at Catonsville

The Maverick Baseball team lost in extra innings Thursday at Catonsville, 3-2. Mike Birchfield (7 IP, 1 ER) pitched a solid outing in defeat.  They travel to Patterson Mill today to take on the Huskies.

The JV Maverick Baseball also fell to Catonsville, 10-4.  Shawn Sheppard (1-2, 3B, 2 RBI) and Aidan Ament (3 BB, 1 R) led the way for the Mavericks on offense.

Maverick Athletes Set Person Bests at Hereford

The Maverick Track and Field team traveled to Hereford Wednesday with many of the student-athletes setting new personal bests in the events they competed in.  Bryant Adams (3200m run), Reese Kropp (1600m run), Sheldon Padgett (1600m run), Amman Vahora (800m run and 1600m run), Chelsea Umezerike (400m dash), Vishva Patel (400m dash), Leam Wilson (400m dash), Lyric Costner (200m dash), Keith Chatmon (110m hurdles), Ibuku Oso (100m dash), and Ryan Strait (discus) all set personal bests at the meet.

Girls’ Lacrosse Defeats Carver A & T 13-5

The Maverick Girls’ Lacrosse team traveled to Carver A & T yesterday and returned with a 13-5 win.  Freshman Jess Urban scored 4 goals and Sophomore Ainsley Plume added 3 goals.  Emma Szymanowski had 7 saves in goal, as the Mavericks improved to 4 and 0 on the season.  They host Joppatowne this Friday at Eastern Regional at 3:45.

Franklin Indians Defeat the Mavericks in Tennis

The Maverick Tennis team came up short to the Franklin Indians yesterday, losing 7 to 2.  Highlights for the Mavericks came from their doubles teams.  David Shannon and Rhys Wexler earned a win in boys’ doubles and Daphin Wahome and Rebecca Lam were victorious in girls’ doubles.  The Mavericks return to the courts this Thursday as they play host to Catonsville.

Softball Jumps Out to Early Lead in Win at Franklin

The Eastern Tech Softball team traveled to Franklin High School yesterday, returning with a 21 to 1 victory. The Mavericks jumped on the Indians early, scoring 10 runs in the first inning and 5 more in the second.  The Mavericks offense was powered by Seniors Abbie Heagy (5-5, 2 HR, 1 3B, 2 RBI), Miranda Burton (3-4, 2B, 2 RBI), and Kendall Pfeifer (1-2, HR, 3 RBI), and Sophomores Sydney Edmond (3-3, 5 RBI) and Emma Tawney (2-2, 2B).  Junior Rilee Fazenbaker allowed 0 H, 0 ER in 4 IP earning the win and was followed by Olivia Bangs who pitched the final inning, allowing 1 hit.  The Mavericks travel to Hereford April 11 for their next contest, looking to improve on their 5-2 record.

JV Mavericks Continue Their Winning Ways in Baseball

The Eastern Tech JV Baseball team defeated Lansdowne yesterday , 13 to 2.  Tommy Pelle earned the win with 3 IP and 5 K while going 3-3 at the plate.  Tommy was joined by Aidan Ament (2-2, 3 R, 2 RBI) and Alex Hewes (2-2, 2 R, 2 RBI) in powering the young Maverick offense.  The Mavericks return to action April 11 versus Catonsville at Eastern Tech.

Softball take the Season Series from Sparrows Point

The Eastern Tech Mavericks took the season series from Sparrows Point with their win on Monday, 13 to 3 in 5 innings.  Sophomore Mackenzie Burton went 5 IP, allowing 1 ER on 2 H.  Senior Savannah Bucalo crushed a HR going 1-2 at the plate with 1 HR and 2 RBI and was followed by fellow Senior Abbie Heagy (2-3, 2 RBI) and Sophomores Lena Wondolowski (3-3, 2 2B, 2 RBI), Kristin Toland (2-4, 2 RBI), and Emma Tawney( 2-3) with strong performances at the plate.  The Mavericks travel to Franklin today in search of their 5th win of the young season.
